What is the IB program?
Conklin Academy is a IB World School. The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) at Conklin is designed to develop the whole child — academically, socially, emotionally, and culturally — through inquiry-based learning. Students gain a global mindset by learning to understand and respect different cultures and perspectives. The program connects learning across subjects through real-world themes, helping students see the relevance of their education beyond the classroom.
The PYP also emphasizes the IB Learner Profile — ten key attributes such as being principled, caring, reflective, and open-minded. Students are encouraged to ask questions, take action in their community, and reflect on their learning, building ownership and agency in their education.
Conklin Academy is a Candidate School* for the Middle Years Programme (MYP). This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Conklin Academy believes is important for our students.
*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme, or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. For further information about the IB and its programmes, visit www.ibo.org.
